Make it mandatory for UK universities to provide parking options for students.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Transportation to remote university campuses is extremely limited. Public transport is not a viable option for all students. Car parking on campus or within walking distance of campus should be made mandatory by the government.
Public transportation is an additional expense many students can't afford.
The use of public transportation encourages the spread of Covid.
Parking is provided for staff and not students.
Busses are often unreliable and students are getting turned away as a result of the busses reaching maximum capacity.
lack of parking is encouraging students to park in residential areas causing obstruction.
Students pay large amounts of money for classes they can not attend at no fault of their own.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about whether to provide parking for students is a matter for individual universities, not the Government or Parliament.
