What the petition asks
Law to be changed so that cyclists must use a cycle lane if one is available, instead of cycling on the road or pavements.
Recent changes to the law are to enable cyclists to be more safe on the roads. Millions have been spent building purpose built cycle paths. This new legislation does not go far enough and should require cyclists to use cycle paths if available. This would help keep them safer and also stop them riding on roads amidst powered vehicles. some such as HGVs have large blind spots and by putting the onus on larger vehicles it unfairly targets those drivers.
