Make it a legal requirement for all drivers to carry their licence when driving

What the petition asks
To amend the Road Traffic Act 1988 and make it a legal requirement for all drivers to be in possession of their licence when driving and for it to be an offence not to produce it to police officers at the time of being pulled over.
Currently carrying a licence is optional and if a police officer wants to check the licence of the driver, and they do not have it on them, they have to show their licence at the station within 7 days.
This can make it easier for offenders to give false details to officers regarding their entitlement to drive, and then not showing up to produce their licence.
It is time to update the laws.
