Do not reduce maintenance loan entitlements based on household income

What the petition asks

To give all students the full Maintenance Loan regardless of their household's income. Students with a lesser loan can face disadvantages in education (eg. not being able to afford the necessary resources for their degree) which can leads to students not reaching their full potential.

Furthermore, students who do not receive a full maintenance loan, but do not receive financial support from their parents, may struggle to pay for accommodation, food and transport. It can also affect a student's social life in university. These are some of many problems students face if they do not receive the financial support they need. These problems can increase unnecessary stress and decrease mental well-being.
