What the petition asks
Victims of domestic abuse need to go through the same divorce process as everyone else. This can be time-consuming, costly and traumatic.
The Government should implement a fast-track process for victims of domestic abuse to get a divorce, to ensure victims can legally separate from their abuser.
The Government should implement a fast-track process for victims of domestic abuse to get a divorce, to ensure victims can legally separate from their abuser.
Many people who have suffered or continue to suffer from physical and mental abuse struggle to get a divorce, and abusers can use legal avenues to obstruct divorces proceedings and cause distress to their victims. This must change.
