What the petition asks
Alter the latest Highway Code. Do away with right of way for pedestrians on junctions.
The reformed Highway Code of 2022 states the following:
- when people are crossing or waiting to cross at a junction, other traffic should give way.
Not only will this cause a rise in accidents, it will prove difficult for those with service dogs. Service dogs are trained to wait until there is no vehicle present; therefore, the service dog will not cross.
Additionally, this could cause a huge spike in accidents; undoubtedly. Bodies crossing before a moving vehicle could be fatal.
