Provide free school meal vouchers to disabled children with authorised absence

Closed 266 signatures

What the petition asks

A national policy is needed that ensures disabled children, on long term medically authorised absence from school, receive free school meals (FSM) as vouchers. This should ensure disabled children are not at a further substantial disadvantage compared to their peers.
It is not fair that families of children with a disability are not eligible to receive free school meal entitlement they would get if their children were able to attend school. Currently the Government has not put in place adjustments to their national policy on FSM entitlement for children at home on medical leave. This lack of FSM provision risks discriminating against those with a disability.
