Petition · past parliament

Charge people who fail to turn up for NHS appointments to reduce waiting lists.

Rejected 15 signatures

What the petition asks

Fine those who fail to attend their NHS appointments. Missed appointments waste valuable NHS resources- £160 per appointment (1) - and affects other patients attending their GP / hospital. If there was a fine for missing your appointment, without a valid excuse, people would think twice.
There should also be reminder letters and texts sent with confirmatory phone calls. It would help if there was a list of those who can come at the last minute if there are any cancellations. (1) https://www.dropbox.com/s/3jayarc2k9ym41q/nhs%20envelope.jpg?dl=0
