Make it illegal to breed, import, sell or provide beagles for animal testing

What the petition asks
Research in the UK makes use of purpose-bred dogs, over 95% of which are beagles. Dogs are protected by animal welfare legislation. However, they can still be subjected to suffering as part of regulated animal testing.
The vast majority of dogs used in laboratories, both worldwide and in Britain, are beagles and breeding them for animal testing is very lucrative. One company alone breeds 2,000 beagle puppies a year and distributes them to laboratories throughout the UK. This must stop.
