Allow NHS carer leave to include pets

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

Change the nhs policies regarding carers leave
Pets are an important part of the family for many people abs important for mental health wellness. Emergency vet visits or medical needs cannot always be postponed in an emergency and should be considered as a priority care requirement. If leave is not permitted and the animal cannot be taken to the vet due to work duties this could cause prolonged suffering or death to the animal in need. Regarding this special or carer leave should be reviewed and implemented across the NHS to include pets.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The terms and conditions for NHS staff are a contractual matter for them, the relevant trade union(s), and the NHS, not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could have a petition calling on the Government to extend the right to time off to care for dependents to those caring for pets, if that is something you'd like to see happen.
