What the petition asks
Our government has committed to aiding Ukraine. However, there has been limited discussion on helping refugees. Germany, Moldavo and Poland have already committed to taking in tens of thousands. We too should commit to taking in Ukrainian refugees displaced in the current crisis.
Since 2014 the humanitarian crisis in Eastern Ukraine has affected 4.4 million people and led to the displacement of 1.6 million. (https://www.euro.who.int/en/health-topics/health-emergencies/ukraines-humanitarian-crisis/ukraines-humanitarian-crisis)
Further conflict instigated by Russia is predicted to cause 'major civilian harm' and 'major displacement'
