Petition · past parliament

Rape/sexual assault offenders should face a death penalty or life in prison.

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

We need more serious consequences/punishments for those who commit rape/sexual assault.
A lot of people are getting away with rape and sexual assault, it is becoming worse people are being silenced by these criminals and are afraid to come out with their story. Majority of these crimes are being committed by men and it is because people are not being educated about this in school. A lot of people are forgetting or don’t know what consent means and it is becoming a problem.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand you are concerned about sentences for rape and other sexual offences, however it's not clear whether you want those convicted of such crimes to be given a mandatory life sentence, for the death penalty to be reintroduced for such offences, or for judges to be able to pass a death sentence as a maximum punishment.
