Family visas for refugees should extend to grandparents and grandchildren

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Currently the UK has extended visas to the children and spouses of UK residents, however this does not go far enough.
Many Ukrainian essential workers must remain behind but need to get their children to safety and to family, but cannot do this as they're not 'close enough'.
In time of war and crisis the UK found it reasonable to send our children to safety. This should be extended to refugees of war torn countries. Adults cannot always flee but like many of us, want their children or elderly parents to be safe. The current rules on familial relations does not take into account that a generation may not be able to leave, thus trapping vulnerable people on a technicality.
It is our duty to help those in need and bring them to safety.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

Since you started your petition the Government has extended the Ukraine Family Scheme visa to cover the immediate and extended families of British nationals and people settled in the UK.
