Increase statutory maternity pay for working mothers to 6 months at 90%

Nowadays mothers are equal and very often the sole breadwinner in the family. The current SMP legislation is severely outdated and inadequate to meet the cost of living and the needs of the modern family. Gone are the days when the woman was either a housewife or earning less than the husband and it didn’t matter much how much SMP she would get. £150 a week SMP is beyond inadequate, especially compared to the cost of living.
