Raise minimum wage for under 18s to the equivalent of over 18s

What the petition asks
Raise the minimum wage for under 18s from £4.62 to the equivalent of Over 18s.
People are taking advantage of under 18s by employing them knowing that they can pay them far less and get away with it. £4.62 for 1 hours work is in no way fair considering over 18s are getting paid considerably more.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We understand you're concerned about the minimum wage for under-18s. However the equivalent of the national minimum wage for over-18s, known as the national living wage, increases steadily between the ages of 18 and 23. It's therefore not clear which of these wages you want under-18s to be required to be paid. You can find out more about these rates here: https://www.gov.uk/national-minimum-wage-rates.
