What the petition asks
Energy prices are rising to unmanageable levels & fossil fuels add to climate change. Create new publicly owned 100% solar energy company. Solar is the cheapest way to produce energy, with potentially floating solar panels on every reservoir in the country, to locally produce clean reliable energy.
Solar tech has improved dramatically recently: Solar power is now the cheapest way to generate electricity, cheaper than coal, oil, gas inc fracking, wind, hydro, nuclear, etc. Solar panels are now far cheaper & require less area to produce more energy than they used to, working well even on cloudy or rainy days. Solar panels can be floated on water or be placed on building roofs so don't take up any additional land, producing energy locally, with battery banks ensuring electricity is reliable & available 24/7.
