Reduce fuel VAT for people on Mobility allowance
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
Extend VAT relief to fuel for Mobility Allowance recipients probably on production of a blue badge.
Registered disabled people in receipt of Mobility allowance are unable to adopt alternative means of transportation but will experience hardship through very high fuel prices currently in force. As the largest component of fuel prices is duty and VAT there is an irresistible case for the same VAT regime to apply to Blue badge holders to have the same VAT treatment on fuel as they have on disability aids
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Fuel duty is a single rate that applies to the sale of all fuel, so the Government cannot reduce this rate for certain customers. We could accept a petition calling on the Government to create a scheme for people meeting certain conditions to be able to reclaim fuel duty from the Government, if that's something you'd like to happen.
