What the petition asks

The government and local authorities have a responsibility to look after our future generations. Financial literacy is paramount for the basic understanding of money and how it impacts day to day life and the future.

Statistics released in 2021 show less than 29% save for their children regularly per month. After leaving school in 2010 I left without any financial literacy & I believe it would assist families and young people to make the right choices for their children's future's and their own.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

The national curriculum for citizenship already states that secondary school students should be taught about the functions and uses of money, the importance and practice of budgeting, income and expenditure, credit and debt, insurance, savings and pensions, financial products and services, and how public money is raised and spent.
