What the petition asks

This petition demands that the government bans conversion therapy (CT) for gender identity as well as sexuality to protect anyone that has a gender identity different from that which they were assigned at birth (Transgender or Non-Binary (NB)) from the abuse and torture of the cruel practice.

Not banning CT for trans/NB folk will directly lead to their deaths, especially kids/teens.

Victims of CT are 2x more likely to be suicidal. A government study found that trans people are twice as likely to have been victims of it as cisgender people. Trans/NB teens are among the most at risk of becoming suicidal.

A UN expert likened it to torture & it is proven not to work. It comes from pure hatred. Banning it for trans/NB folk will save lives, not take them. Do the right thing. Save lives.
