Stop the privatisation of Channel 4.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

The Government has announced its intention to privatise Channel 4.

There are already many privately owned TV channels people can choose from, it is essential to protect the independence of Channel 4 and stop this act of cultural vandalism.
Channel 4 was founded in 1982 to deliver programmes for under-served and under represented audiences, which it has consistently done, producing
some of the very best programming on UK TV, not least the award winning Channel 4 News. Although publicly owned it generates its income through advertising, and therefore doesn't cost the tax payer anything.

We must protect this much valued and trusted institution.
