What the petition asks
Channel Four is no burden to British tax payers. It raises funds from advertising and ploughs profit into independent production companies supporting the UK creative industry and UK jobs.
Please protect Channel Four’s not for profit status and stop its privatisation. If the government refuses to stop the privatisation please explain how private owners will safeguard, or increase, current levels of investment into the UK creative film and media industry. Please explain plans to safeguard UK jobs. Please also explain how the channel’s impartial and high quality of journalism be safeguarded and protected from private interest.
