Create a regulator for licences to play live or recorded music

What the petition asks
The Government should create a regulator to oversee the UK music licensing (PPL PRS) and set tariffs and the criteria that determines which music uses are licensable and which are not.
Music licensing is carried out by an independent limited company that sets unregulated tariffs. Businesses that use commercially available music as part of their service (eg. dance & fitness classes) are charged rates that could undermine the viability of their business. Also, we believe the conditions on which uses of music incur a charge are unreasonable. This petition asks Government to establish a regulator to ensure that tariffs and chargeable uses are fair and don’t create a barrier to sustainable business
