What the petition asks
I want the Government to make it illegal to pierce the ears of babies and children under the age of 11. That includes the possibility of arrest and prosecution of any individual, parent or business that executes the practice of piercing any body part of a baby or child under the aforementioned age.
To protect children and babies from a practice that carries out an act of body mutilation.
Babies cannot consent to such a decision and it isn’t within parental rights that they get to inflict body mutilation upon their baby.
Such physical contact in other ways would be deemed assault and piercings should be no different.
Children under 11 are still in their primary years of education and have less of an understanding about their bodies and consequences of actions.
Protection is needed.
