Find a permanent solution to disruption caused by delays at the Channel ports

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

To permanently deal with the significant problems caused (to residents and to the drivers themselves) by lorries being parked on the M20, I propose that land is allocated and at least one fit for purpose large (or ideally 2 or 3 smaller) truck stops offering proper facilities are built in Kent
The inconvenience and cost to the Kent economy of parking lorries on the M20 time and time again has been an issue since 1997, and the introduction of the motorway parking system in 2022 has been the worst in 25 years. Lorry drivers are left without basic amenities, often for days, and this is no longer acceptable.

Whenever there are issues with Channel crossings, the disruption caused to Kent residents is significant, and the lorry drivers parked up are left treated like animals

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure whether you want the Government to find a solution to lorry tailbacks in Kent, of if you want extra truck stops to be provided in Kent. In any case, the provision of facilities such as truck stops is a matter for landowners and providers, rather than for the Government to provide.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
