Get it right first time! Build west Herts A&E hospital central to its population

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

The Government must intervene NOW to make sure West Herts Hospital Trust include in their Outline Business Case a fully costed option to build OUR new A&E hospital in a more CENTRAL and ACCESSIBLE location. Until this has been done, the Government can’t ensure Value For Money or public support it.
Watford General has been west Herts only Acute services/A&E hospital since the closure of A&E departments at St Albans and Hemel Hempstead.
Our Trust wants to spend £1.1bn on a high-rise hospital at the cramped Vicarage Road site, a location hard to get to for the majority of the population it serves.
The trust's decision is out of date-the goalposts have significantly moved for funding and completion dates. Our trust need to demonstrate best use of public funds by including a new site option.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Decisions over where to hospital trusts are a matter for the NHS, not the Government.
