We demand that the UK Government declares a Global Climate Emergency

What the petition asks
The UK Government is still the President of COP26. In spite of the progress made at the COP26 conference, global temperatures are rising faster than expected and emissions continue to rise unabated. It is our moral obligation as COP President to declare a Global Climate Emergency.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report published on 28th Feb 2022 makes clear that climate change is impacting the world far faster than scientists had anticipated. Countries have failed to rein in planet-warming carbon emissions, which continue to rise.
"Unchecked carbon pollution is forcing the world's most vulnerable on a frogmarch to destruction...The facts are undeniable. This abdication of leadership is criminal." U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
