Ensure domestic abuse survivors are better protected by CMS post-review

Closed 136 signatures

What the petition asks

The Government should ensure that domestic abuse (DV) survivors are better protected by the Child Maintenance Service (CMS) following the recent Independent Review of Child Maintenance Service (CMS) Domestic Abuse Operational Policies & Procedures.
In its response to the review, the Govt should commit to:
- Giving DV survivors greater choice over methods of payment
- Increasing the range of accessible forms of communication available to CMS users
- Ensuring CMS provides proof that survivor can start Court Proceedings against perpetrator if unable to keep case open
- Establishing a new CMS department to deal with domestic abuse claims, with specialised professionals
- Increasing Child Maintenance payments in line with inflation
