Remove VAT from all clothes, soap, toilet roll and cleaning products

What the petition asks
VAT on sanitary products for menstrual health has rightly been removed, as it is recognised as a necessity not a luxury. Yet, it remains on other necessities inc soap and toilet roll. This should not be. Clothes, soap, toilet roll and cleaning products are also essential - they should be zero-rated.
Staying clean is not a luxury. Demanding that families pay a tax for their hygiene is bad enough at the best of times; at a time like this, where the cost of basic necessities has shot up, it is downright evil. This money is being taken out of the pockets of those who can least afford it. The 'Soap Tax', and tax on all essentials, must be repealed.
