Strengthen CMS requirements on Receiving Parents and enforcement powers
Closed

What the petition asks
The Government should require Receiving Parents (RPs) to:
- provide evidence to the Child Maintenance Service (CMS) for any change of circumstances that affect payments; and
- provide evidence for any claims of missing payments.
Child maintenance ends if the child leaves school and gets a job, so RPs should be required to provide evidence that the child has decided to continue their education at 16.
The Government should also give the CMS stronger legal powers to take action where Receiving Parents fail to provide information or provide false information.
