Implement more awareness on dyslexia & other learning difficulties in schools

Rejected 14 signatures

What the petition asks

I was failed by the system in diagnosing my dyslexia.
I was initially tested in year 8 (only 1/2 tested), I was tested further in year 10.
I had no support from teachers&was expected to learn as those without.
I had no support during exams.
I want teachers to be taught on dyslexia
Dyslexia affects 20 percent of the population and represents 80–90 percent of all those with learning disabilities. It is the most common of all neuro-cognitive disorders. This is over 1,460,000,000 people (1in10 people).
My parents battled for years to achieve my diagnosis&explaining to teachers what does/doesn’t work for me-but no matter what, it wasn’t taken into consideration & was ignored.
I need your help to implement and acknowledge that some people learn, think and behave differently

We're sorry to hear what you've been through

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, such as reviewing the assesment process for students or the support available, or changing how teachers are trained.
