Limit MPs meal expenses to 30p a day

Rejected 9 signatures

What the petition asks

MPs currently have an allowance of £25 a day for food when working outside of London or their constituency. It has recently been suggested in Parliament that 30p is sufficient budget for a meal. In the current economic climate I would like Parliament to adjust their allowances accordingly.
To save taxpayer money and align MPs allowances with statements made in the house

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
