Change MPs meal allowances to 30p
Rejected
16 signatures
What the petition asks
MP’s meal allowances should be reduced to 30 pence in line with MP Lee Anderson’s comments that this is how the public should budget for their families
MPs should be able to lead by example. In times of hardship the country require strong leadership. Also, apparently they’re the experts when it comes to sensible budgeting so they will be able to show us all how easy it is to prepare nutritionally balanced meals for just 30 pence
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
