What the petition asks

Allow everyone who is a British citizen claim expenses for day to day living costs permanently, just like MP's do.

This will tackle the current cost of living crisis and help our economy grow by people having more disposable income to spend,save invest and also drastically improve everyone's health and wellbeing.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand you would like members of the public to be able to claim the same expenses as MPs. However MPs are reimbursed only for costs incurred in the performance of their parliamentary functions, so it's not clear how members of the public would be able to claim these same expenses. You could have a petition calling for the Government to set up a grant scheme to cover all workers' expenses, if that is something you'd like to see happen.
