Raise rates for business mileage from 45p in line with current fuel rises
Rejected

What the petition asks
The business mileage rate has been capped at 45p for the last 12 years, when in 2010 the average cost of fuel was 114 per litre and now (2022) it is averaging 189 with the tax inflation.
Give higher mileage rates so people can afford to keep working and commuting. There is already a crisis in the job market with fewer people working since COVID and driving up fuel costs will see others unable to commute/work, and increase those seeking unemployment benefits.
Why it was rejected
There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
You may wish to sign this petition which calls for the same action: Increase the tax-free approved Mileage Allowance Payment rate and review yearly.
