Make it mandatory that all schools have air conditioning in classrooms.

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

Make it mandatory that all schools have air conditioning and more lenient policies in place during extreme heat to prevent heat related illnesses
My son has extreme heat rash from over heating in the classroom that has required medical intervention and steroids. He has had to stay home from school to prevent it getting worse. There is nothing to keep the children cool in the school. Classrooms are full with nothing in place to reduce the temperature. Heat is very dangerous for children.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Schools are already responsible for the health and safety of pupils, and the Government has published guidance on looking after children during heatwaves: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/heatwave-plan-for-england/looking-after-children-and-those-in-early-years-settings-during-heatwaves-for-teachers-and-professionals

Decisions about specific measures to put in place to mitigate the effects of hot weather are a matter for individual schools, not the UK Government or Parliament.

If you are concerned about your child wellbeing, you can find out to complain about a school here: https://www.gov.uk/complain-about-school
