Make self-defence part of the secondary Physical Education curriculum

What the petition asks
We want schools to be required to teach children how to defend themselves. This should be added to the school curriculum as part of Physical Education. Children should be taught self-defence techniques in secondary school. These skills could save lives one day.
According to the latest figures from ONS, between April 2020 and March 2021, 177 women were murdered in England and Wales, and 416 men. Where the suspect was known - 92% of women were killed by men in the year to March 2021. Anyone can be in a position where they are vulnerable, anyone can be a victim. Everyone deserves to be taught how to defend themselves should they need to.
