Require health warnings on ultra-processed foods

Closed 62 signatures

What the petition asks

Ultra-processed foods contain a mix of ingredients and often contain flavours, colours and other additives (such as salt, fat and sugar). Research has found a link between eating ultra-processed foods and increased cardiovascular disease and early death.
Already the UK is facing an obesity epidemic. 63% of adults are classed as overweight. A third of children leaving primary school are overweight and 1 in 5 are obese. An average person in the UK gets 56% of their calories from ultra-processed foods. Research is demonstrating how dangerous these products can be. We believe the NHS is in danger of being overwhelmed by cases of type 2 diabetes and other chronic illnesses if the Government does not require warnings on ultra-processed foods.
