Make dog attacks on cats a specific criminal offence

What the petition asks
We want the Government to increase accountability of dog owners for when their dogs attack cats.
As it stands there isn't a specific law to protect cats from dogs. It is an offence to allow a dog to be dangerously out of control, but we want a specific offence for when a dog attacks a cat.
My cat has been attacked several times, but no action has been taken against the owner of the dog. I believe creating a specific criminal offence would make the police and prosecutors take these attacks more seriously.
