MP's convicted of a criminal offence should lose their parliamentary seat.

What the petition asks
Change the law making it mandatory for an MP to lose their seat and associated privileges if convicted of a serious criminal offence, by definition, one which could carry a custodial sentence.
It is disconcerting to me that those empowered to bring into law rules of behaviour which the general public have to follow should be allowed to continue to do so after breaking the very laws they introduce or support. It is an embarrassment to both parliament and the country as a whole that this should be allowed to continue. I cannot think of any other so senior role where you would be allowed to continue your employment under such circumstances.
