Introduce harsher penalties and more inspections on new build developments

What the petition asks
We want the government to use their powers to introduce tighter rules and punishments for developers on new build sites.
The quality standards have majorly dropped on many sites with new houses being unliveable and coming with lots of snags.
Developers keep getting away punishment

Developers keep getting away punishment
There's plenty of building regulations that are supposed to be followed but it appears lots of these aren't checked up on, it's a daily occurrence hearing about developers cutting corners to save money, not following fire safety laws, properties being sold with over 100 snags and developers have been known to not fix these issues with no repercussions whatsoever.
It's time the buyers of new build properties had more protection, rising house prices and decreasing quality standards needs change.

Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
While we can see that you'd like the Government to increase regulation of new building developments, it's not clear exactly what you'd like the Government to do or regulate. Petitions have to set out a clear ask for the Government to respond to.
