Impose an profit cap for energy companies per kWh
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
There should be a flat cap on the amount of profit that can be made per kWh instead of a percentage. This will bring users bill costs down and prevent profiting from the energy crisis
Currently energy companies make a percentile markup profit on energy bills. This means that as wholesale prices increase, their profits increase, whilst the public have to pay more money.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Decisions on the energy price cap levels are a matter for Ofgem rather than the UK Government or Parliament directly.
