Guarantee Freeport employees today's workers' rights and NI provision

What the petition asks
Freeports are presented as attractive, but in fact will erode workers' rights. No Union membership, longer hours, no NI benefits.
It is also problematic that included in the Zones are all our National Parks, and the sources of our major rivers. Are they about to be privatised - sold off? Is river water about to be diverted to the Freeports? And no-one yet knows what happens to the areas NOT in any Freeport Zone. Left to wither?
People need to be made aware of these dangers threatening us all. Let's see if they can wriggle out of telling the public the truth.

Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not aware of any proposals to remove existing legal rights from workers in Freeports. The latest Government guidance on freeports states
"There is no deregulatory agenda in Freeports, our Freeport model ensures that the UK’s high standards with respect to security, health and safety, workers’ rights, data protection, biosecurity, tax avoidance and the environment will not be compromised. Freeports – in the same way as every other business in the UK – will have to adhere to the UK’s high regulatory standards."
