Make children under three who are disabled eligible for Blue Badges
Closed
342 signatures
What the petition asks
Change the Blue Badge scheme to enable children of any age with a disability to qualify for one. The 3 year minimum age should be removed from the criteria. Treat all children equally and don't restrict eligibility for Blue Badges to under 3s.
My child is 2 years old with cerebral palsy, she cannot stand or walk and has a wheelchair, which is heavy and bulky and needs full door opening to be able to be lifted in and out of a car. To access places we have to park far away from things and construct her chair in the middle of the road which is dangerous for us and other motorists. Our local council refuses to give us a Blue Badge because my child is under 3 and wheelchairs are not deemed to be medical equipment.
