Change the law to stop healthy animals being euthanized at the owner’s request

What the petition asks
Bring in a law protecting animals from euthanasia. At the moment if an owner wishes to have an animal put to sleep there is no law to stop this. I would like the Government to stop this happening.
It is unbelievable that owners can simply request to have an animal put down, even if there are alternatives available. Animals should be protected from this situation. Just because someone has decided they do not want to keep an animal that doesn't mean they should be able to be disposed of. Owners should be required to keep animals they are responsible for, or at least arrange for them to be rehomed.
