Make it compulsory for all taxis and PHVs have CCTV and dash cameras

What the petition asks
There appears to be a growing trend of allegations alleged against taxi and private hire vehicle drivers. We believe councils up and down the country are failing both drivers and the public, and that the Government should make internal CCTV and dash cameras mandatory for such vehicles.
There are too many cases of taxi and PHV drivers being the victims of assault, robberies, racially motivated attacks, or even murder. These drivers are also often subject of allegations against them, and often there is no evidence to prove whether an allegation is true of false.
Making CCTV compulsory should not only help protect all involved, it can help help piece together vital information on crime across the country, as well as help disprove false allegations.
