Remove fuel allowances from MP's expenses with immediate effect

Rejected 13 signatures

What the petition asks

MP's are "entitled" to claim expenses for fuel costs for heating and lighting etc, for electricity, gas or dual fuel.
MPs, in particular Government MPs, are insisting that while the Ukraine crisis continues it is our interests to either lower our standard of living or pay extra to maintain our Standards.

Many thousands, indeed millions of citizens shall be unable to pay their fuel bills this winter and is unfair, inequitable. This is despicable and should be addressed. If they want the citizens to make sacrifices the MPs should also make sacrifices.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
