Ban the import and sale of real fur in the UK

Closed 425 signatures

What the petition asks

Polls suggest the majority of the public in the UK are against the import and sale of real fur due to the cruelty involved and the harm that the fur industry does to the environment. The Government should ban all imports and sales of real fur in the UK.
On fur factory farms thousands of wild animals are forced to spend their whole lives crammed into small wire-mesh cages. These conditions cause suffering and cruelty both physical and psychological.
Other animals killed for fur are trapped in the wild using leg hold traps. These devices crush the animals bones and they can spend hours or even days in agony, before the trapper returns.
Some of these animals are gassed, bludgeoned, or drowned and some are skinned alive.
