'Rent freeze' in England for public and private rented properties

What the petition asks
It is imperative during this unprecedented time that rent should not and will not be allowed to be increased by public and private landlords, as many currently face such financial difficulties. This needs to be actioned immediately to all rentals and landlords should not be allowed to increase rent.
As recently announced by the Scottish Government a 'rent freeze' has been actioned in Scotland, effective immediately to help relieve pressure
on those renting, as there are already additional pressures on increasing living costs such as gas, electricity and food as well as rent itself.
Those renting need some stability during this time. the Scottish Government stated that until March of 2023 rent can not be increased. This needs to be addressed in England as well as this is indeed a "humanitarian emergency”.
