Amend building regs to make it mandatory to install Solar on all new houses

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

Change current building regulations to make installation of solar PV and hot water systems compulsory for all new build domestic property. The government could also subsidise these costs on any housing categorised as ‘affordable’ to further incentivise house builders.
If we want to help meet the UK target for Nett zero by 2050 we should do this now. The current energy crisis underlines this. The technology is available and proven. This would stimulate the Green manufacturing supply chain, create new jobs and develop workforce skills. It would also drive innovation in the sector and give momentum to decentralisation of the power grid.
