What the petition asks
Stop the review to consider moving the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This will all but kill any hopes of a Palestinian state.
Also announce that the UK supports the worldwide view of Jerusalem being the capital of a future Palestinian state along the UN supported 1967 lines.
Also announce that the UK supports the worldwide view of Jerusalem being the capital of a future Palestinian state along the UN supported 1967 lines.
The legal, world wide view is for the occupied Palestinians to have their own state along the lines drawn up by the UN in 1967 with Jerusalem as its capital.
Announcing movement of the UK Israel embassy to Jerusalem would all but destroy this goal. The last such announcement by the US lead to worldwide demonstrations and many deaths. Any such announcement by the UK will definitely lead to many more deaths. We don’t want such deaths in our name!
